So Brazil Duo (Juliana Areias and Jose Henrique Alves) and guest musician Rick Gonçalves joined a cast of Perth celebrities and entrepreneurs in the launch of the Havaianas Botequim on 16 March 2010, at Cottesloe Beach, in Perth. The event was awesome, as Havaianas decided to launch its version of a Brazilian beach Botequim (a very laid back bar selling drinks and traditional finger food) alongside the Sculptures by the Sea exhibition. So Brazil entertained the guests with a selection of songs that made everybody dance, while the catering service provided extra energy via generous servings of água de côco (coconut juice), pão de queijo (cheese balls) and feijoada (black beans with rice). The event made the social pages of several local newspapers (Above: scan from The West Australian,  “Out & About” in their Style section).

So Brazil Duo and guests play this Saturday, 27 March 2010, at the Kulcha Multicultural Centre, in Fremantle, from 7:30pm.

Apart from the gig itself, you have at least three good reasons to come this Thursday to So Brazil show at the Floreat Beach Kiosk:

_ The summer is still out there and the light is beautiful.

_ The kids can play while you enjoy your night out.

_ The week is almost over.

So Brazil and band – A night in Rio Concert

Sat 27 March @ Kulcha – 7.30pm – $15

Following a sell-out performance at KULCHA last September, So Brazil return with their new show A Night In Rio. The performance is inspired by Santa Teresa, a suburb in Rio de Janeiro, with its charming streets and mix of cultures. Jose Henrique Alves and Juliana Areias fuse traditional rhythms with well-known eighties Brazilian rock songs. Brazilian food will be available on the night, as well as Caipiroska cocktails.

2010 has just arrived and it’s already a great year! At least for So Brazil. So far, we have already nine gigs scheduled. Our 2010 Perth tour starts tomorrow, when we will be back to Ocean One Bar Scarborough and continues on Thursday, when we will be playing one more time at the Floreat Beach Kiosk. In February, while the Summer is still with us, we will be performing at Ocean One weekly and at the Kiosk also on the 25 February. From March and until April, we will be also playing at the Chilli Festival (13 March), at the Mirrabooka Shopping Square Centre (18 March), at Kulcha (27 March) and the Northbridge Piazza (11 April). If you have already seen us, come again because we are beginning to prepare a brand new show called “A night in Rio”, which will be opening at Kulcha in March, but we will be testing here and there until then. Surprise, surprise!

First North Fremantle. Then Floreat Beach. And now Scarborough Beach.

As part of its Beach Concert series 2010, So Brazil lands on Wednesday, for the first time, at the Ocean One Bar Scarborough, 1 Manning Street, Scarborough Beach.

Apart from a perfect soundtrack, this newest Brazilian Night in Perth promises to bring a taste of typical Brazilian foods and drinks.

So if you still didn’t have the opportunity to see us at Salt on the Beach or at Floreat Beach Kiosk or you have already but you are dreaming about a second chance, come to Scarborough for one more perfect combination: Brazilian music and the beach.

Come to celebrate summer by the sea with So Brazil‘s full band set.
This is a rare opportunity to watch So Brazil performing with guest musicians in a full band format:  Brazilian Singer Juliana Areias and Jose Henrique playing not only the guitar, but his first instrument, the bass; plus Rick Goncalvez ( Cavaquinho, guitar and percussion), Mike Boase, leader of Beleza Samba School (drums and percussion) and other surprise appearances. Enjoy the new songs of our rich repertoire of bossas, sambas and forros, specially prepared to this occasion. It is a party not to be missed. See you there!

Our performance last Thursday at the Kiosk Floreat Beach, was a great success. It was a perfect combination of all elements awaking all senses at the same time: So Brazil’s connecting music; the warm crowd; the summer vibes, the sea view, the casualness, the sunset light, the soft breeze, the sea’s aroma;  the venue’s good food and ambience and the happiness of being alive. 

We take this chance to thank again the wonderful and vibrant crowd that cheered So Brazil celebrating with us our first concert of the year.

“Here comes the sun, here comes the sun”, and we say, it’s So Brazil time! Opening the 2010 So Brazil Beach Concert series, we would like to invite you to our Happy Hour Concert at The Kiosk Floreat Beach on Thursday 14^th January from 6pm, free entrance.
